We were founded jointly by Vanderburgh House, an operator of sober houses in Massachusetts, and Vanderburgh Communities, an organization supporting sober living and recovery home operators. Maverick House Tavern is a delightful restaurant, perfect for those with layovers at Logan or looking for a meal before or after a flight. Known for its great burgers and friendly staff, including the owner, it’s a welcoming spot with outdoor seating that’s enjoyable in the summer. Trivia nights are a hit, making it a well-rounded local favorite, even worth a parking ticket. The opening of the Maverick House Hotel in 1835 marked the start of commercial development of East Boston. The hotel structure dominated Maverick Square and was named for Samuel Maverick, one of the original settlers of the area now called East Boston.

The Maverick House serviced travelers on the Eastern Railroad line and it was a popular place with students. The Maverick House was destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times. Noah Sturtevant led the final rebuild, and in 1857 it was ranked as one of the largest and finest hotels of the time.
